World’s Largest Underwater Sculpture – Ocean Atlas

This enormous sculpture “Ocean Atlas” by Jason deCaires Taylor, go’s home to it’s final resting place on the ocean floor. Located just off the western coastline of New Providence in Nassau, Bahamas. This sculpture depicts a young local Bahamian girl sustaining the ceiling of the ocean. This is the largest single sculpture ever to be deployed underwater, towering nearly 17-feet-tall, weighing in at 60 tons, she’s a big girl… Commissioned by B.R.E.E.F (Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation) aims to create an underwater sculpture garden in honor of its founder Sir Nicholas Nuttall. “Ocean Atlas” is part of an ongoing, environmentally friendly underwater sculpture garden that also includes works by local artists Willicey Tynes, Andret John, and Reefball.
